The Immigration Department of Vietnam has announced new policies to facilitate immigrant procedures for foreigners, overseas Vietnamese, and their relatives to return to Vietnam; this is following Pham Binh Minh’s – Permanent Deputy Prime Minister’s – directive, as transmitted by the Government Office in Official Documentary No. 450/VPCP-QHQT issued January 18, 2022.

  • Foreigners and overseas Vietnamese with a valid permanent or temporary residence card, visa, or visa exemption certificate may enter under the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam (without the approval of the immigration policy of Vietnamese authorities and carry out procedures for personnel inspection at the Immigration Department).
  • For foreigners who do not have one of the above documents but seek to enter Vietnam to research the market, work, invest, attend conferences and seminars, study, or visit family; they are advised to request approval of the policy of the province People’s Committee or the Ministries, ministerial agencies, and Central agencies, before inviting and ensuring the granting of an entry visa at the Immigration Department.
  • The prevention and control of the Covid-19 outbreak must follow the current regulations of the Ministry of Health.
  • For foreigners looking to enter as tourists, they will follow the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism’s pilot program to welcome international travelers.
